Forklift Fuel Tank - Some fuel tanks are fabricated by experienced metal craftsmen, although the majority of tanks are built. Restoration and custom tanks could be seen on tractors, motorcycles, aircraft and automotive.

When constructing fuel tanks, there are a series of requirements which must be followed. Initially, the tanks craftsman will make a mockup in order to find out the measurements of the tank. This is often done utilizing foam board. After that, design problems are addressed, comprising where the outlets, seams, drain, baffles and fluid level indicator will go. The craftsman must find out the alloy, thickness and temper of the metallic sheet he would use to construct the tank. Several baffles in aircraft and racecars hold "lightening" holes. These flanged holes have two purposes. They add strength to the baffles while reducing the weight of the tank. Occasionally these holes are added once the fabrication method is finish, other times they are created on the flat shell.

After that, the ends and baffles can be riveted into place. The rivet heads are frequently brazed or soldered to be able to prevent tank leaks. Ends could afterward be hemmed in and flanged and soldered, or sealed, or brazed utilizing an epoxy type of sealant, or the ends could also be flanged and then welded. After the welding, soldering and brazing has been finished, the fuel tank is checked for leaks.
